Handling Language-Check (Voice Sample Required)

When a candidate is set to In Review by juucy Quality Control (QC) due to insufficient language evidence, your next step is to collect a short voice sample (about 1–2 minutes), upload it, and notify QC in the candidate’s comment section.
This guide shows you exactly how to do that—fast and professionally.

When does this apply?

  • QC message indicates missing or unclear language proficiency (often german).
  • Candidate looks strong overall, but language level cannot be verified from CV/LinkedIn/interview notes.

In this case you will receive the following notification of our QC:

Thanks for submitting this candidate!
Unfortunately, we noticed that the candidate does not fully meet the German language requirements. To proceed, we kindly ask you to provide a short voice sample from the candidate (about 1–2 minutes) in which they briefly introduce themselves and explain their motivation for this position.
This step gives the candidate the chance to demonstrate their language skills directly to the client and avoid being rejected too early, while also helping the client assess language proficiency in advance rather than only discovering during the interview that the level is insufficient. Please upload the recording to Google Drive (or another file-sharing service) and share the link in the comment section.

Thank you very much for your support!

The goal

  • Give the candidate a quick, fair chance to demonstrate their language skills for the client.
  • Prevent avoidable rejections and save time for everyone.

Step-by-step

1) Inform the candidate (same day)

Send a short message and request a 1–2 minute German voice note.

Candidate message:

Thanks for your time today! As you know, the role requires German C1, and to move forward the client would like a short voice sample (about 1–2 minutes). You can use the opportunity to introduce yourself and explain your motivation for this job! Could you please record a quick introduction in German covering:

1. Your name and current role
2. Relevant experiences for this role
3. Why this position interests you
4. Earliest start date.

A simple phone recording is fine (mp3/m4a). Thank you so much!

2) Check the sample

  • Length: 60–120 seconds.
  • Audio: understandable, minimal background noise.
  • If you understand the language yourself: Check if it is appropriate for the role (e.g., B2+ for most client-facing roles unless the brief says otherwise).

3) Upload and share the link

  1. Upload file to Google Drive (or similar).
  2. Set access to “Anyone with the link – View” (no downloads required).
  3. Use a clear file name:Role_Candidate_Name_DE-Voice_YYYYMMDD.mp3
  4. In the comment section on juucy, post:
    • the share link
    • optional: a short summary of your assessment (see template below)

QC comment template:

Voice sample attached: [link]. The voice sample will help you assess the candidate's language skills (intro, exp, motivation, availability). My assessment: German ≈ C1 (fluent and professional, minor errors). The candidate would be delighted to receive an invitation to an interview!

4) Follow-ups and timing

  • Request a voice sample from the candidate the same day you get the QC message.
  • Send a friendly reminder after 24–48h if the candidate didn't respond yet.
  • No sample after 5 business days: leave the candidate in your pool and prioritize other candidates.

What if the candidate refuses? Explain that the sample helps avoid an early rejection and saves them time. If they still decline, let us know via the comment section and redirect your focus.

By following these steps, you give every candidate a fair chance to demonstrate their language skills while helping clients make faster and more accurate hiring decisions. With clear communication we optimize efficiency, save time for all parties and increase customer satisfaction.
